In late 2023, Southern California got one of the biggest swells of the year, following a brief pass of an offshore hurricane that came off the Gulf of Mexico. Thousands of people flocked to the beaches; spectators came simply to watch the power of the waves, photographers set up and waited for hours for the perfect shot, and every surfer in the county came down at a chance for their wave.
